SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Reminder - Action Required: ERCOT External Web Services Secure Sockets Layer certificate update
INTENDED AUDIENCE:  All Market Participants
DAY AFFECTED:  September 2, 2015 from 11:25 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. CPT
LONG DESCRIPTION:  On September 2, 2015, between 11:25 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. CPT, ERCOT will update the expiring Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate required for programmatic access to ERCOT's External Web Services (EWS) Application Programmatic Interface (API) (
ACTION REQUIRED:  Prior to 11:25 a.m. on September 2, 2015, all Market Participants that communicate with the ERCOT EWS API ( must install the updated public key into their application's key store to be able to send validated SSL submissions after ERCOT's update of the SSL certificate.  Failure to install the updated public key prior to ERCOT's update of the SSL certificate will prevent Market Participants from being able to make successful programmatic submissions and queries to ERCOT's market systems.
In order to avoid communication interruptions during the transition, Market Participants must install the updated public key, in addition to the current public key, into their application's keystore prior to ERCOT's update of its SSL certificate.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  The updated public key is identified as ERCOT Public Key (valid from 08/17/2015 to 08/18/2016) and is available for download at the following link:
