SHORT DESCRIPTION: Implementation Details of PGRR070

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Resource Entities and Transmission Service Providers (TSPs)

DAY AFFECTED: October 18, 2019

LONG DESCRIPTION: On October 18, 2019, ERCOT will partially implement Planning Guide language associated with Revision Request (PGRR) 070, Revised Responsibilities for Performing Geomagnetic Disturbance (GMD) Vulnerability Assessments.  Paragraphs (1) and (2) of Section 3.1.8, Planning Geomagnetic Disturbance (GMD) Activities will be unboxed. The remaining Planning Guide revisions identified in PGRR070 will to be implemented at a later date.

PGRR070 aligns the  Planning Guides with North American Electric Reliability Corporation  (NERC)  Reliability Standard TPL-007-3, Transmission System Planned Performance for Geomagnetic Disturbance Events, by revising responsibilities for performing studies needed to complete GMD vulnerability assessments.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Pursuant to Planning Guide Section 1.2.5, Planning Guide Revision Implementation, ERCOT is required to provide notice as soon as practicable, but no later than ten days prior to implementation.
