NOTICE DATE: September 22, 2020

NOTICE TYPE: CNP-M-A092120-02 – Update

SHORT DESCRIPTION: As heavy rains from now Tropical Depression Beta continue to impact the area, CenterPoint Energy continues to monitor this weather system.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: Monday, September 21, 2020, forward until further notice.

LONG DESCRIPTION: Due to Tropical Storm Beta, some areas of CenterPoint Energy’s Houston Electric territory have been impacted by heavy rain and flooding.

     * CenterPoint Energy’s priority is always safety.
     * The company’s Houston-area electric reliability performance is greater than 99%.
     * Approximately 1,300 customers are experiencing outages. For general outage locations and real time numbers, visit CenterPointEnergy.com/OutageTracker<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.centerpointenergy.com%2FOutageTracker&data=02%7C01%7Clisa.harris%40centerpointenergy.com%7C8c6e2cefc7aa448dc45e08d85f3683a8%7C88cc5fd7fd7844b6ad75b6915088974f%7C0%7C0%7C637364035027334317&sdata=Wse1GZP0QAnpBqNEbNA26Ca3m7P1%2Bo1HsXkqEdvm2GM%3D&reserved=0>.
     * Our highly skilled workforce has begun restoration efforts to impacted areas.
        * More than 150 electric crews are responding to outages.
        * Additional crews are on standby to respond if needed.
     * As heavy rain continues to impact the area, Electric Operations is prepared to safely and quickly respond to outages and issues all day and overnight.
     * Our crews are unable to safely navigate some of the hardest hit areas around the city, such as Brazoria, Galveston, South Houston and Sugar Land, to assess damage to our systems or restore power.
        * Once it is safe to do so, we will resume our response and restoration efforts in hard-hit areas.
     * Customers do not need to call us to report power outages. Our smart meters tell us which customers are out. We ask that everyone please keep phone lines open for electric or natural gas emergency calls only.
     * CenterPoint Energy crews are working and will keep working until everyone is restored. We greatly appreciate our customers’ patience.
     * At this time, we are not making any changes to the processing of market orders. However, individual orders may be turned down in the field if the location is not accessible due to high water or other weather-related circumstances.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: CenterPoint Energy will continue to monitor this weather system and provide updates to the market as needed.
