SHORT DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT is continuing the recovery effort of missing data for April 21 through April 30, 2008.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  QSEs

DAY AFFECTED:  April 21 through April 30, 2008

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT conducted an emergency database failover on April 21, 2008 following a hardware failure.  This database failover resulted in an out-of-synch (OOS) data problem from April 21 through April 30.   ERCOT has developed a phased process to attempt to thoroughly recover the missing data for April 21 through April 30, 2008 which includes:

Phase 1: Repair the out-of-synch situation and begin posting daily extracts - complete

Phase 2: Recover the EMMS data for April 21 through April 30, 2008 into ISM.

  1. Recover the temporary database - complete
  2. Recover tape backup - complete
  3. Recover archive logs from tape backup – in progress
  4. Recover data from the archive logs for February through April – in progress
  5. Check for missing data for errors in data
  6. If no errors or gaps are found, the following extracts will be generated for April 21 through April 30, 2008.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  ERCOT has filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), NOTICE OF P.U.C. SUBSTANTIVE RULE AND PROTOCOL VIOLATION (Control number 27706, Item Number 118).  The full PUCT filing is available from the PUCT website at the following web address:
