SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT is continuing the recovery effort of missing data for April 21 through April 30, 2008.

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT conducted an emergency database failover on April 21, 2008 following a hardware failure. This database failover resulted in an out-of-synch (OOS) data problem from April 21 through April 30. ERCOT has developed a phased process to attempt to thoroughly recover the missing data.

Phase 1: Repair the out-of-synch situation and begin posting daily extracts was completed as expected.

Phase 2: However, during the course of executing the original Phase 2, a gap was exposed due to changes in the replication strategy during the time period affected because of system upgrades and migration. A modified Phase 2 recovery plan has been initiated and is outlined below:

Recover the EMMS data for April 21 through April 30, 2008 into ISM.

Validate source and target database match 100% at 3/31/08 23:59:59 - Completed

Generate/apply source transactions to target for DATA GAP period (4/21/08 10:44:01 to 4/22/08 11:14:00) – Complete **Backup complete
Restore/apply files from 4/22/08 11:14:01 thru 4/30/08 23:59:59 – In Progress - Complete

Phase 3: As a mitigation in an effort to provide information to resolve the “Corrupt Data Calculations of Price Adjustments for Non-Spinning Reserve Service” issue, a third phase is being executed in parallel with the modified Phase 2. Data is being restored using the production backup. The steps in this process are complete.
