CLASSIFICATION:  Public

SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Request for information in support of NERC-TRE Audit

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  QSEs with Resources

DAY AFFECTED:  September 9 – 12, 2008

LONG DESCRIPTION:  The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) and the Texas Regional Entity (TRE) will be conducting a reliability audit of ERCOT from September 9 through September 12, 2008.  ERCOT will be audited as the Reliability Coordinator (RC), Transmission Operator (TOP), Balancing Authority (BA), and the Transmission Service Provider (TSP) for the ERCOT region.

ERCOT registered Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSE) that represent Resources may possess information needed for ERCOT to demonstrate compliance with NERC Balancing Authority (BA) requirements. Though preliminary review with the QSE Managers Working Group (QWMG) indicated that ERCOT would not require information from QSEs, the auditors may demand such information.

Should any such information within the possession of a QSE be required to fulfill a request by the audit team, ERCOT will contact the relevant QSE(s) and will expect each entity to submit the requested information promptly.

To assist with expediting audit requests, ERCOT is asking each QSE to designate a primary and secondary contact that will be available by phone from Sept 9 – 12, 2008.  These contacts should be able to promptly submit any requested documentation. The contacts should also be able to respond as a subject matter expert to any auditor questions on information provided to the auditor.
