SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Customer Care Switch Cancellation Notifications mailed a day after the last cancellation date

DAY AFFECTED:  August 2, 2008  

LONG DESCRIPTION:  Late yesterday, August 19, 2008, ERCOT discovered a failed process in the mailing of switch notifications.   ERCOT’s vendor did not process a file containing 1,132 switches from August 2, 2008 until August 14, 2008, which was one day after the customer protection period expired.  The customers received the switch cancellation notice after the last cancellation date of August 13, 2008 and ERCOT’s automated process would not allow those customers to cancel their switch.

ERCOT is currently assisting customers who want their switch cancelled by manually cancelling the switch.  At this point, ERCOT has identified nine customers who are potentially impacted.
