NOTICE DATE:  September 30, 2008

NOTICE TYPE:  M-A093008-01 - Informational

CLASSIFICATION:  Public

SHORT DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT process for Duns & Bradstreet (DUNS) Numbers

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  All Market Participants

LONG DESCRIPTION:  In support of ERCOT’s Nodal transition, several changes are being made to the ERCOT registration system.  One of these changes is the standardization of numbers used to set up new Market Participants in ERCOT’s registration system.

Standardized four-digit extensions are being added to the root DUNS Number of all newly registered Market Participants so that the registration type can be more easily identified and to allow for the unique identification of multiple registration types by a Market Participant.  The standard nine-digit DUNS Number will continue to be used as the identification of the Registered Market Participant for credit purposes.

The four-digit extensions are being assigned as follows:

Entity Type :

DUNS Extension:

Load Serving Entity (LSE)

1000 Series

Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE)

2000 Series

Resource Entity (RE)

3000 Series

Transmission Distribution Service Provider (TDSP)

4000 Series

Congestion Revenue Rights Account Holder (CRR)

5000 Series

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Existing Market Participants that are already registered with ERCOT will not be impacted by this change.  These Market Participants will retain their existing ERCOT DUNS Number.
