SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT’s Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) application
experienced an outage on November 21,
2008 from 1:13 PM to 2:10 PM.

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT’s
Electronic Data Interchange
(EDI) application experienced an outage
on November 21, 2008 from 1:13 PM to 2:10
PM.
During an EDI application
server failover on November 21, 2008, it was discovered that a scheduled
maintenance activity performed during a planned maintenance outage on September
7, 2008 was not successfully completed for
the EDI application. The failover on
November 21, 2008 was the first
failover on that server since the maintenance outage. In order to resolve this issue, the
application was failed back to the original processing servers. Transaction processing was then returned to
normal.
As a result of the outage,
there was a subset of transactions that were duplicated outbound (79
transactions) or the 814 response transaction was delayed. ERCOT is completing the transaction analysis
and will have all reprocessing completed by the end of the day, November 24, 2008. Below are the counts of transactions requiring
reprocessing.
