SHORT DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT.com will experience a maintenance outage from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM today, January 6, 2009 due to a chassis that is currently experiencing an Optical Pass-thru Module (OPM) failure.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  All Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  January 6, 2009 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT.com will be unavailable from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM today, January 6, 2009.   ERCOT has a chassis that is currently experiencing an Optical Pass-thru Module (OPM) failure.  To correct this issue a hardware replacement will be required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Discussions with IBM support determined that the failure is a known issue and is detailed in IBM document ECA071: Optical pass-thru module loses network connectivity - IBM BladeCenter.
