SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Whitney Transformer SPS Proposal

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  Proposed April 15, 2009

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has received a proposal from Brazos Electric for a new Special Protection System (SPS) for the Whitney transformer.  This SPS is intended to protect against overloading on the Whitney 345/138 kV Transformer that may occur with the loss of the Bosque Switch – Elm Mott 345 kV Line and high dispatch of 345 kV generation at the Bosque Switching Station.

ERCOT is initiating a review of this Type-1 SPS at this time.  Information regarding SPSs can be viewed on the ERCOT Planning and Operations Information secure website:  http://planning.ercot.com/login/login.
