NOTICE
TYPE: M-D042309-01 Notice of System Change
(PRR/SCR)
SHORT
DESCRIPTION: Implementation of SCR754, Wind Generation
Forecast transfer using XML query
INTENDED
AUDIENCE: Resource Entities with Wind-powered
Generation Resources and QSEs
DAY
AFFECTED: June, 2009
LONG
DESCRIPTION: ERCOT will be implementing an XML query for
Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSE’s) representing Wind-powered Generation
Resources (WGR) to receive hourly WGR forecasts required per PRR763 and
SCR754. The XML query revision is
specified in the attached ERCOT Participant Interface: XML query described in
Section 6.5 (Query for AWS Wind Forecast).
The implementation is
intended to remedy the limitations of email delivery of AWS wind generation
forecasts to QSEs by employing zonal infrastructure and processes for production
quality 7x24 delivery. The backend processes involve retrieval of AWS
forecasts for delivery to QSEs in response to their program queries similar
to other services currently supported in zonal. Additional details are as follows:
·
A new forecast file is received by ERCOT every hour at approximately
20 minutes after the hour.
Tests are planned to begin
with QSEs in the zonal Market Operations Test Environment (MOTE) after May 22,
2009 in preparation for migration to production, slated for the second half of
June, 2009. Each QSE representing
WGRs is encouraged to test and prove their XML query in the MOTE prior to
production migration. A notice for the MOTE testing period will be sent
separately. A final market notice will be sent to all QSE’s 10-days prior to
actual production migration.
ACTION
REQUIRED:
Implement the ERCOT Participant
Interface: XML query described in Section 6.5 (Query for AWS Wind Forecast) of
the attached document by May 22, 2009 to prepare for MOTE
testing.
ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION:
The current method of email
delivery of AWS forecasts will remain until all QSE’s with WGRs are able to
retrieve the forecasts using the XML query.
