SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Sandow Switch SPS Approval

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  May 10, 2009

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has received a proposal from Oncor Electric Delivery for a new Special Protection System (SPS) at Sandow Switching Station (Oncor SPS # 43).  This SPS is intended to protect against post-contingency overloading on the Sandow – Taylor, Sandow – Elgin, and Elgin – Gilleland 138 kV Lines and the Sandow 345/138 kV Autotransformer # 1 that may occur under various conditions with the addition of Sandow Unit # 5.

Effective May 10, 2009, this SPS is in service.  Information regarding this SPS can be located in the “Special Protection Systems Information” section of the Planning and Operations Information secure website:  http://planning.ercot.com/login/login.
