NOTICE DATE:  October 16, 2009

NOTICE TYPE:  M-B101609-01 Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Point of Interconnection (POI) change for certain Generation Facilities

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  October 16, 2009

LONG DESCRIPTION:  Pursuant to Protocol Section 8.8, Coordination for System Topology, Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT) has approved an interconnection request to relocate certain Facilities (i.e., Wind-powered Generation Resources (WGRs)) effective October 16, 2009, from the West Zone to a new location in the South Zone at the Kendall station.

ERCOT worked with associated Transmission Service Providers (TSPs) to ensure operation and outage coordination procedures are in place and that required SCADA control of the interconnection breakers at the South Zone and West Zone interconnects are in place and operational.

In accordance with Protocol Section 8.8, ERCOT requires at least 30-day notice for any switching of interconnections to be considered. ERCOT’s approval or rejection of an interconnection request is based on reliability studies under the current and proposed configurations, which must be consistent with the interconnection requirements.

ERCOT will continue to work with the Multiple Interconnection for Generators Task Force (MIGTF) to develop a long-term process for handling future interconnection point changes.
