SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Proposal to disable the McDonald Road and Drumright SPSs

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  October 25, 2009

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has received a request to permanently disable the Special Protection Systems (SPS) at McDonald Road and Drumright. These SPSs are intended to relieve overloading on the 138 kV system from Spraberry to Morgan Creek that can occur under various system conditions. The ERCOT ISO has completed its review and has approved the proposal to permanently disable these SPSs.
