SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Approval to Disable Stanton East SPS #23 and install Stanton East SPS #46

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  May 5, 2010

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has received a request to disable the Special Protection System (SPS) at the Oncor Stanton East substation (Oncor SPS #23) and replace it with a new SPS at Stanton East (Oncor SPS #46). The exiting SPS is intended to protect against overloads on the Stanton East – Midland East and Stanton East – Big Spring 138 kV lines. The replacement SPS is intended to protect against overloads on the Stanton East – Midland East 138 kV line and is temporary until Competitive Renewable Energy Zone (CREZ) lines are tied into the Odessa Extra-High Voltage (EHV) Switching Station.

ERCOT has completed its review and has approved the proposal to disable the existing Stanton East SPS (Oncor SPS #23) and install the new Stanton East SPS (Oncor SPS #46).

Further details on these SPSs can be found in the “Special Protection Systems Information” section of the ERCOT Planning and Operations Information secure website: http://planning.ercot.com/login/login.
