SHORT DESCRIPTION: Yellow Jacket to Ft. Mason PCAP

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  April 28, 2010

LONG DESCRIPTION: During periods of high Wind-powered Generation Resource (WGR) output in the west, the contingency Yellow Jacket to Gillespie to Ft. Mason 138 kV line causes an overload on the Hext to Mason Switch 69 kV line. ERCOT studies have shown that opening the 69 kV line pre-contingency effectively resolves the congestion and maintains the integrity of the 69 kV system. ERCOT will begin using this Pre-Contingency Action Plan (PCAP) immediately. Notice of the PCAP’s use will be provided in the Daily Grid Operations Report.
