SHORT DESCRIPTION:  A new Web-Based Training course for Generation 101 (Real-Time Operations) is now available

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  Nodal Accountable Executives, Nodal Transition Project Managers, Market Trial Contacts

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has published a Web-Based Training version of the Generation 101 (Real-Time Operations) course. Generation 101 is provided by ERCOT as the first of two extended courses to supplement the Basic Training Program course. Generation 101 focuses on Real-Time Operations of the ERCOT Nodal Market while a second course, Generation 201, focuses on Day-Ahead Operations. Both of these courses are primarily targeted at Qualified Scheduling Entities with generation Resources.  

The course has six modules that provide a general review of the various components of the Nodal market before diving in for a detailed discussion of the Adjustment Period and Real Time Operations. The six modules are as follows:

  1. Nodal Market Overview
  2. Day-Ahead Operations
  3. Adjustment Period
  4. Operating Period
  5. Emergency Operation Conditions
  6. Performance Monitoring

Note:  Module 6 (Performance Monitoring) is still under construction and is expected to be available in September.

To access the Generation 101 course, select “View Schedule” for the “Generation 101” course and then select “Enroll Online” to register using the Learning Management System.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Market Participant training is an integral part of ERCOT’s efforts to help Market Participants transition to the ERCOT Nodal Market. This course is part of a series of instructor-led and web-based training courses available to Market Participants.
