SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Recommendations for opening compressed (.zip) reports on MIS
INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

LONG DESCRIPTION:  Some Market Participants (MPs) have had difficulty opening compressed reports in a .zip format, such as LMPs by Electrical Bus, on the Market Information System (MIS). The issue is caused by attempting to open the reports from web browsers using only the built-in zip utility that comes with some Windows installs. ERCOT's recommendation is to use the zip utility from WinZip instead of using the built-in Windows utility that may not be able to open these files due to character limitations.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  To clarify, this is not an issue with MIS or the reports. This issue is related to the utility being used to open zip files.
As a temporary work-around, instead of opening the zip file, MPs can download the zipped file to their systems and extract the file it contains before attempting to open it. As a result of these issues, ERCOT is currently only supporting WinZip and 7-Zip.
