NOTICE TYPE: M-C122210-01 INFORMATIONAL
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Update to production environment digital certificate for naesb.ercot.com on January 13, 2011
INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Market Participants
DAY AFFECTED: January 13, 2011
LONG DESCRIPTION: The Verisign digital certificate for naesb.ercot.com will expire on January 20, 2011. This certificate is in place to validate the NAESB system's identity to Service Providers/MPs connecting to it.
ERCOT will update the expiring certificate in the production environment for naesb.ercot.com from 14:00 - 14:30 CST on January 13, 2011.
If not already done, MPs will need to deploy the associated root certificates in their systems to successfully navigate the signature verification step beyond that point. The updated root certificate has been posted in the nodal readiness center. Please download and update your application specific keystores with this, accordingly.
ACTION REQUIRED: Market Participants may download the certificates directly from VeriSign using the attached instructions.
There are multiple options for installation of the certificates. The steps for manually installing the certificates per user are detailed in the attachment. Your IT team may prefer to use a global method such as Active Directory (AD) Group Policy Objects (GPO), depending on your operating system and software distribution platform.
ERCOT recommends that all service providers add the new root certificates before January 13, 2011 to avoid any NAESB service interruptions.
Before the ERCOT update is complete, Market Participants will need to update the digital certificate in their environment. MPs can download the certificate at http://nodal.ercot.com/readiness/sandbox/index.html. The certificate files are individually zipped and will need to be extracted prior to installing.
