SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Anticipated Capacity Needs for Winter Storm

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  All Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED:  February 9 – 12, 2011

LONG DESCRIPTION:  The National Weather Service is anticipating severe cold weather statewide this week, as another arctic air mass is expected to reach deep into Texas, dropping temperatures back into the teens and twenties.  In anticipation of this severe cold weather, ERCOT will procure approximately 3000 MW of additional capacity for real-time operations to ensure reliable delivery of power during this extreme weather event.

ERCOT also requests that Market Participants review and update their COP data as soon as possible for Wednesday and Thursday to ensure proper selection of resources.
