The discussion is intended for Chief Financial Officers, Controllers or other senior financial personnel from ERCOT member companies and Market Participants who are responsible for internal control over financial reporting and complying with related SEC requirements. The discussion will be particularly relevant for publicly-traded companies that rely on ERCOT data for their Sarbanes-Oxley 404 filings. The scope of the audit was based on areas of controls that were significantly revised and areas of new controls that were added to ERCOT's internal controls due to the implementation of the nodal market. The result of the audit was that, in the auditor's opinion, the accompanying description of the Nodal Settlement Operations presents fairly, in all material respects, the relevant aspects of ERCOT's controls that had been placed in operation as of January 21, 2011. Also, the controls, as described, are suitably designed to provide reasonable assurance that the specified control objectives would be achieved if the described controls were complied with satisfactorily and user organizations applied the controls contemplated in the design of ERCOT's controls.
