NOTICE DATE:  April 29, 2011

NOTICE TYPE:  M-A042911-01 NPRR

SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Supporting information for NPRR343 related to Day-Ahead Market submission criteria

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  May 1, 2011

LONG DESCRIPTION:  On April 19, 2011, the ERCOT Board approved Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 343, CRR Bid and PTP Obligation Bid Criteria Change, which is effective on May 1, 2011. The following information is offered as supporting details for locating the necessary information for the market to comply with this Protocol change as related to the Day-Ahead Market (DAM).

ERCOT has manually posted the Electrically Similar Settlement Point groups for the DAM and will update the file as necessary prior to any scheduled Network Operations Model load sequence that changes the list of Electrically Similar Settlement Points.

The file has two columns:

·         Group

·         Settlement Point Name

In the file, a unique group number is listed, e.g., Group = 1, and any two Settlement Points in the list associated with that group number are “electrically similar.”

ERCOT posted the first file of Electrically Similar Settlement Points on Friday April 29, 2011. The report is in CSV format with the effective Operating Day in the filename (details of the posting below).

As described in Protocols and effective on May 1, 2011, the DAM Operator will manually remove the Point-to-Point (PTP) Obligation bids that source and sink from the same electrically similar group of Settlement Points before running the DAM.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  The DAM Electrically Similar Settlement Points file is posted on the Market Information System (MIS) Secure Area under the Day-Ahead Market page in the “DAM Supporting Information” portlet. An ERCOT digital certificate is required to access the MIS Secure Area.

NPRR343 and associated documents can be found on the ERCOT website, under Market Rules, at http://www.ercot.com/mktrules/issues/nprr/326-350/343/index.
