NOTICE DATE: September 1, 2011
NOTICE TYPE: W-A090111-01 Extracts – Wholesale
SHORT DESCRIPTION: Line break or end-of-line character changes for CDR Reports
INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants who depend on parsers using EOL
DAYS AFFECTED: August 24, 2011, and forward
LONG DESCRIPTION: In support of the implementation of Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 350,
Change to the Security Classification of the System Ancillary Service Capacity Monitor Dashboard, and
System Change Request (SCR) 764, Public Access to Select MIS Dashboards, ERCOT made several back end system changes to the Current Day Report (CDR) generating system on August
24, 2011. While most of these changes have been seamless, ERCOT has discovered an unintentional market impact to the line break or end-of-line (EOL) character. The actual codes representing a new line vary across operating systems, which can be a problem when
exchanging data between systems with different representations. Prior to the implementation, the CDR generated reports were provided to the market in Microsoft based line break or EOL character. Going forward, the reports will be using UNIX based line break
or EOL character.
ACTION REQUIRED: Market Participants who depend on parsers using EOL need to review and adjust their rules to handle this change.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: For further information about EOL characters, please refer to
