SHORT DESCRIPTION:  The ERCOT 2011 Type 2 SSAE 16 Report is now available

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  Financial personnel from ERCOT member companies and Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  January 6, 2012

LONG DESCRIPTION:  The ERCOT 2011 Type 2 Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) 16 Report for the Service Organization Controls (formerly the SAS 70 Report) is now available. The examination was performed by BrightLine CPAs and Associates. The result of the examination was an Unqualified (clean) Opinion. ERCOT’s Management Assertion is included in Section 2 of the report.

Due to the implementation of the nodal market in December 2010 and the resulting changes to and/or addition of controls, a Type 1 examination of certain controls was performed by BrightLine CPAs and Associates based on a review date of January 21, 2011. Type 1 reports present an opinion on management’s description of a service organization’s system and the suitability of the design of controls as of a certain review date. The Type 1 report was issued on March 22, 2011.

The review period for the 2011 Type 2 examination was January 1, 2011, to September 30, 2011. Type 2 reports present an opinion on management’s description of a service organization’s system and the suitability of the design and operating effectiveness of controls over a period of time.
