SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Preparations are underway for the next retail market participant training on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 - ERCOT Retail 101: Understanding the Tools of the Texas Retail Electric Market.

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Retail Market

DAY AFFECTED:  Wednesday, October 3, 2012

LONG DESCRIPTION:  Preparations are underway for the next retail market participant training. ERCOT will offer this seminar both onsite and via WebEx.

During this one day seminar, the Retail Client Services team will provide a high level overview of the following retail-related topics:


  *   ERCOT History, Overview, and Roles
  *   Communications
  *   Renewable Energy Credit Trading Program
  *   Market Participant Working Groups
  *   Systems and Transactions
  *   Market Information System (MIS)
  *   MarkeTrak
This course will be a high level discussion of ERCOT’s history and current roles as well as how ERCOT communicates in the market. We will also cover the working group committee structure (with emphasis on retail committees) as well as an overview of Texas SET transactions. Attendees will also receive a basic introduction to the tools available in the Texas retail market, which include MarkeTrak, and the Market Information System (MIS).

Target Audience: This course is intended for representatives of new ERCOT retail market participants, those looking to enter the Texas retail market, or new employees of existing market participant organizations wanting a general knowledge of retail market tools. This course is a high level overview and will not include the level of detail desired by some current market participants needing extensive review of the ERCOT retail market rules and processes. The course is open to the public as well, subject to space availability (see below).

The deadline to register for ERCOT Retail 101 is Wednesday, September 26, 2012.

Training room capacity for the onsite seminar is 50 people.  Registration will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Please keep this in mind when registering. Due to limited space we cannot guarantee access to the session without prior registration.

Confirmation is subject to ERCOT receiving the required registration through ERCOT’s Learning Management System (LMS). If registration is not received, attendees may not be assured of participation in this training.

Note: ERCOT reserves the right to reschedule the class for a future date if there is not sufficient interest in the course offering.

The first time you access the LMS site, you will need to create an account. Click the link to create an account and complete the information requested. Then click the “Create My Account” link. Once your account has been created you can click “Sign In” and you will be directed to the “My Courses” page. Upon logging into the LMS, the participant should select the course R.ERCOT101 – Understanding the Tools of the Texas Retail Market (Instructor-led).

When registering, onsite attendees will need to select the section: R.ERCOT101.121003-ONSITE.  WebEx Participants will need to select the section: R.ERCOT101.121003-WEBEX.

ERCOT requests that only WebEx participants who are registered via LMS participate in the training seminar.  LMS credit will only be given to registered participants.

The only way to register for the ERCOT Retail 101 seminar is through the registration tool. E-mailed RSVPs will not be accepted.

Attached you will find a high level agenda of the topics being covered. This information can also be found on the ERCOT training webpage (http://www.ercot.com/services/training/course/78).

Presentations used in the ERCOT Retail 101 will be posted to http://www.ercot.com/services/training/course/78#materials approximately ten (10) days before the training date.  ERCOT will not be providing printed training materials to onsite attendees.  However, wireless internet access will be available at the training location.
