SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Proposal to Disable Austrop to Sandow 345 kV circuit outage SPS

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  May 3, 2013

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT received a proposal to disable the Austrop to Sandow 345 kV circuit Special Protection System (Austrop Line SPS) from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA).  A recent study report from the LCRA suggests that this SPS will no longer be needed after completing the installation of the Dunlap autotransformer with an expected in-service date of July 11, 2013.  The Austrop Line SPS was designed to protect the Austrop autotransformer.

The proposal to disable the Austrop Line SPS is being reviewed by ERCOT.  Comments on the proposal are due by May 3, 2013 and should be submitted to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> using the attached comment form.  Any questions or concerns raised during this timeframe will be addressed by ERCOT Staff or the entity submitting the SPS proposal.

Information regarding SPSs can be found on the ERCOT Market Information System (MIS) under "Special Protection Systems and Remedial Action Plans" at https://mis.ercot.com/pps/tibco/mis/Pages/Grid+Information/Long+Term+Planning. A digital certificate is required to access the MIS.

ACTION REQUIRED:  Any comments to this proposal are due to ERCOT by May 3, 2013 using the attached form.
