SHORT DESCRIPTION: Implementation details of SCR760 – Phase 4

INTENDED AUDIENCE: Transmission Services Providers

DAY AFFECTED: July 30, 2013

LONG DESCRIPTION: System Change Request (SCR) 760, Recommended Changes Needed for Information Model Manager and Topology Processor for Planning Models, was approved by the ERCOT Board on March 22, 2011. SCR760 provides for the implementation and support of nine system changes that update the Network Model Management System (NMMS) Database, and/or the tools used to create the Annual Planning Model, to support additional features required by the Transmission Service Provider Planning teams in an effort to more efficiently and accurately build the Annual Planning Models.

ERCOT has implemented the SCR760 functionality in multiple phases, with the final phase, phase 4, of the implementation to be effective on July 30, 2013. Phase 4 will include SCR760 enhancements 1 and 6, as described below:

Enhancement 1: Modify Information Model Manager and Topology Processor to allow outputting of the latest version of PSS/E. This should be done within one year of any and all PSS/E version updates in the future. Implement an evaluation process where SSWG recommends to ROS and ROS approves which new PSS/E data models should be evaluated for implementation into the IMM. The evaluation would be done on an annual basis and timed so that new data types could be used for SSWG case-building the following year.

Enhancement 6: Allow capability to convert a FACTS device model in Information Model Manager to one of several FACTS device models allowed in PSS/E version 33 to be decided based on the recommendation of SSWG and approved by ROS.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: SCR760 and associated documents can be found on the ERCOT website, under Market Rules, at http://www.ercot.com/mktrules/issues/scr/750-774/760/index.

Further notices will be sent with details on additional phases of the implementation.
