SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Approval of Special Protection System #51 at Morgan Creek (Morgan Creek SPS)

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT received a request from Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC (Oncor) to install a Special Protection System (SPS) at the Morgan Creek generation facilities (Morgan Creek SPS). This SPS will monitor flows on the Morgan Creek 138/69KV autotransformer, the Morgan Creek to Sun Switch 138 kV line, and the Morgan Creek to Barber Lake 138KV lines 1 and 2 leaving the Morgan Creek SES. The Morgan Creek SPS is intended to protect against overloading of the monitored constraints under various system conditions. 

ERCOT has completed its review and has approved the proposal to add the Morgan Creek SPS.  A Market Notice will be sent to inform ERCOT Market Participants of the activation date of the SPS once it has been determined.

Information regarding SPSs can be found on the ERCOT Market Information System (MIS) under Special Protection Systems and Remedial Action Plans. A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS.
