SHORT DESCRIPTION: Generic wind dynamic models for PSS/e V33

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Resource Entities

DAY AFFECTED: February 14, 2014

LONG DESCRIPTION: To assist Resource Entities that have indicated an inability to submit a wind model that is compatible with the latest version of PSS/e (Powertech’s software tool to analyze a power system), ERCOT has prepared a set of wind turbine generic models and parameter data developed by ERCOT’s consultant to represent wind turbines for the TSAT platform (Powertech’s software tool to analyze a power system). These generic models were not specifically developed for use with PSS/e, but the consultant has stated to ERCOT that the simulation response from these models is comparable to the response observed with manufacturer-specific user-defined models under the PSS/e platform.

Each Resource Entity is solely responsible for providing accurate models, so models and corresponding parameter data should be fully evaluated and determined to be accurate before being submitting to ERCOT. If a Resource Entity determines that any one of these generic wind turbine models accurately reflects the dynamic characteristics of its wind turbines, it may elect to submit this data set to ERCOT in the Resource Asset Registration Form (RARF). Any Resource Entity that chooses to submit this generic model data will be responsible for addressing any future problems with the data. To obtain the wind turbine generic models, a Resource Entity should contact its ERCOT Account Manager by February 14, 2014.

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Update - Extension of deadline to submit user defined PSS/e Version 33 dynamic models

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Resource Entities

DAY AFFECTED: March 31, 2014

LONG DESCRIPTION: In the Reliability and Operations Subcommittee (ROS) meeting on December 12, ROS endorsed the extension of the deadline for Resource Entities to provide the user defined PSS/e Version 33 compatible dynamic models to ERCOT until March 31, 2014.

ACTION REQUIRED: Please submit any user defined PSS/e Version 33 compatible dynamic models to ERCOT via an updated Resource Asset Registration Form (RARF) by March 31, 2014.

Resources without a user defined model need not submit any updates.

SHORT DESCRIPTION: REMINDER: Requirement to submit user defined PSS/e Version 33 dynamic models by December 31, 2013

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Resource Entities

DAY AFFECTED: December 31, 2013

LONG DESCRIPTION: This is a reminder to Resource Entities with equipment represented with user defined dynamic models in ERCOT’s Dynamics Working Group (DWG) base cases to submit any user defined PSS/e Version 33 compatible dynamic models to ERCOT via an updated Resource Asset Registration Form (RARF) by December 31, 3013.

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Extension of requirement to submit user defined PSS/e Version 33 dynamic models to December 31, 2013

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Resource Entities

DAY AFFECTED: December 31, 2013

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT communicated on May 14, 2013 with Resource Entities that have equipment that is represented with user defined dynamic models in DWG base cases for PSS/e version 32 that the ERCOT Steady State Working Group (SSWG) had announced that new base case development will now use PSS/e version 33. The ERCOT Dynamics Working Group (DWG) will also progress to PSS/e version 33 for their base case building efforts.

The updated model (PSS/e standard model if applicable or user defined model with model libraries) compatible with PSS/e version 33 for your equipment was originally due prior to August 31, 2013.

The DWG and ERCOT, with approval from the Reliability Operations Subcommittee (ROS), have agreed to extend the due date for updated models to December 31, 2013.

ACTION REQUIRED: Please submit any user defined PSS/e Version 33 compatible dynamic models to ERCOT via an updated Resource Asset Registration Form (RARF) by December 31, 2013.

Resources without a user defined model need not submit any updates.
