LONG DESCRIPTION:  The Permian Basin Special Protection System (SPS) approved by ERCOT in August 2013 is scheduled to be in-service on February 27, 2014. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Further details of the Permian Basin SPS can be found in the “Special Protection Systems and Remedial Action Plans”.  A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS.

SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Recommendation to Approve Special Protection Scheme #50 at Permian Basin (Permian Basin SPS) Proposal

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  August 7, 2013

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT received a request to install a Special Protection System (SPS) at the Permian Basin generation facilities (Permian Basin SPS) from Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC (Oncor). This SPS will monitor flows on the Permian Basin – Wink and Permian – Ward Gulf Tap – Wink/Wickett 138 kV lines leaving the Permian Basin SES, and is intended to protect against overloading of the two monitored lines under various system conditions. 

ERCOT has approved the proposal to add the Permian Basin SPS.  A market notice will be sent to inform ERCOT Market Participants of the activation date of the SPS once it is available.

Information regarding SPSs can be found on the ERCOT Market Information System (MIS) under “Special Protection Systems and Remedial Action Plans” at https://mis.ercot.com/pps/tibco/mis/Pages/Grid+Information/Long+Term+Planning. A digital certificate is required to access the MIS.
