SHORT DESCRIPTION: Update to the proposal to retire Stanton East Sw. Station SPS #46
INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants
DAY AFFECTED: October 24, 2014
LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT has received a proposal to retire the Stanton East Sw. Station Special Protection System (SPS #46). This SPS is proposed to be retired after Oncor Electric Delivery Company, LLC (Oncor) completes reconstruction of the 138 kV line from Stanton East Sw. Station to Buffalo in December 2014. The Stanton East Sw. Station SPS #46 was originally designed to relieve thermal violations on the 138 kV transmission line from Stanton East Sw. Station to Midland E Sw. Station. After the Buffalo Station was energized in 2013, this SPS has monitored the 138 kV line from Stanton East Sw. Station to Buffalo.
ERCOT has completed its review of the proposal to retire the Stanton East Sw. Station SPS and is recommending that the Stanton East Sw. Station SPS (SPS #46) be removed upon completion of the conductor upgrade of the transmission line between Stanton East Sw. Station and Buffalo. A Market Notice will be sent to inform ERCOT Market Participants of the removal date of the SPS once it has been determined.
