ERCOT has arranged for a class at Taylor on developing power flow models for calculating currents caused by a geomagnetic disturbance (GMD).  The FERC is currently processing a Notice for Proposed Rulemaking for the  Reliability Standard TPL-007-1 (Transmission System Planned Performance for Geomagnetic Disturbance Events)  developed by NERC.  All owners of transformers or shunt reactors connected to the 345 kV system using a grounded wye connection are covered by the proposed Standard.  This includes TSPs and generator owners.  More students are needed for the class to be held at Taylor.  The deadline for enrolling is this Friday, September 4, 2015.  Enrollment is performed at the Siemens Power Academy TD - NA website http://siemens.coursewebs.com Learning Management System under the "My Courses" section.  Please enroll before the deadline.
