SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Update on Zorillo - Ajo Generic Transmission Constraint

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  October 20, 2015

LONG DESCRIPTION:  This notice provides an update on Zorillo – Ajo Generic Transmission Constraint. Since the inception of the Zorillo – Ajo Generic Transmission Constraint (GTC) earlier this year, ERCOT has been working with American Electric Power (AEP) and the generators impacted by the GTC, investigating options to improve system stability in the area under both normal and outage conditions. A solution has been identified that involves coordination of reactive power controls by the Ajo area generators. Studies indicate that this coordination improves the GTC limit under normal operating conditions.  The Ajo area generators have implemented their reactive power control changes and the GTC limit has improved.

Details associated with this and all existing GTCs can be found on the ERCOT MIS Secure Area in the “Generic Transmission Constraints” portlet.  A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS Secure Area.
