SHORT DESCRIPTION:  2016 ERCOT Black Start Training

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  TDSPs, Black Start and Next Start QSEs and Resources

DAY AFFECTED:  Registration available November 02, 2014 – December 04, 2014

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT will host the 2016 ERCOT Black Start Training in Taylor, TX beginning February 2 – 4, 2016.

There will be 6 training sessions scheduled, and each session will be three days with a half day the first day, full day the second and one half day on the third.  Lunch will be provided the first day from 11:30 – 12:30.  Coursework begins the first day at 12:30 and ends at 17:00 covering Black Start theory and the responsibilities of each entity involved in the restoration process, as well as, simulation training and an hour of real simulation. The second day will start at 07:00 and last until 17:00 and the third day will begin at 07:00 and end at 12:00. The second and third days will focus on simulating the restoration of the ERCOT System. There is also a dry run scheduled for January 12 – 14, 2016. The Dry Run session should be attended by trainers, managers and designated required representatives exclusively.

For completion of the three day training session, nineteen (19) NERC approved Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) will be awarded. Fifteen (15) of the CEHs will count towards the ERCOT/Simulation requirement.

ERCOT requests participation from all Transmission Operators (TOPs) and Generator Operator (GOP) operations personnel from resources identified in a Transmission Operator’s Black Start plan.

**Special Session is reserved for previous attendees of the 2016 Black Start training only. The goal of the special session is to determine a total system restoration time using the best of the previous sessions as a starting point.
