NOTICE DATE:  February 18, 2016

NOTICE TYPE:  W-D073115-02 Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Updates to Panhandle Generic Transmission Constraint Methodology

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  Anticipated during the first week of March 2016

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT has completed an operational assessment into the system strength issue in the Panhandle region based on current system conditions.  As a result of this assessment, ERCOT is planning to begin consideration of Weighted Short Circuit Ratio (WSCR) limits when determining limits for the Panhandle Generic Transmission Constraint (GTC) in real-time and Day-Ahead assessments.  For Market Participant transparency, ERCOT has released an updated GTC Methodology document to the Market Information System (MIS) Secure Area in the “Generic Transmission Constraints” portlet.  A Digital Certificate is required to access the MIS Secure Area.

ERCOT is currently in the process of modifying its systems to incorporate the WSCR limits indicated in the GTC Methodology document, and will begin to consider these limits once systems are updated.  ERCOT will provide an additional Market Notice in advance of that time.
