Brief Description – On September 22, 2016, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued Order No. 830 approving Reliability Standard TPL-007-1 - Transmission System Planned Performance for Geomagnetic Disturbance Events and directing additional GMD-related activities. These activities include:

·        Development of a GMD research work plan;

·        Collection of GMD data pursuant to NERC Rules of Procedure section 1600 which can be made publicly available; and

·        Modifying Reliability Standard TPL-007 through the standards development process.

The purpose of this meeting is to discuss GMD research and work activities that should be included in NERC's work plan to meet the directives, as well as discuss technical details for the collection of GMD data pursuant to NERC Rules of Procedure Section 1600. Additionally, an update on standards development activities to address the directives to modify TPL-007-1 will be provided.
