SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Issue experienced with DAM software

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

LONG DESCRIPTION:  On February 11, 2017, for Operating Day February 12, 2017, ERCOT experienced an issue with the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) software. The issue relates to the number of Ancillary Services (AS) Offers received from Qualified Scheduling Entities (QSEs) representing Load Resources for the DAM.

Because ERCOT was unable to get a fix in time to run the DAM before the start of the Adjustment Period for Operating Day February 12, 2017, ERCOT had to enact a workaround of removing 15 AS Offers (with a maximum aggregated offer of 2.6 MW per hour) from four QSEs in order for the DAM to complete timely. The workaround was effective and the DAM published at 5:46 PM Central Prevailing Time (CPT). ERCOT has contacted the four QSEs that were directly impacted by the removal of the AS Offers.

ERCOT has implemented a solution to resolve the limitation of DAM AS Offers and does not anticipate any further issues but will continue to evaluate future solutions.  ERCOT is conducting a full root cause investigation into the DAM software issue and will provide additional details at a future date in an appropriate stakeholder forum.
