NOTICE DATE: April 27, 2017

NOTICE TYPE: W-A121316-05 RRGRRs and PGRR

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Implementation details of RRGRR003, RRGRR006, RRGRR007, RRGRR009, RRGRR010 and PGRR046

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED: May 8, 2017

LONG DESCRIPTION: On May 8, 2017, ERCOT will implement Planning Guide Revision Request (PGRR) 046, Addition of Geomagnetically Induced Current (GIC) Model Building Requirements, and the following Resource Registration Glossary Revision Requests (RRGRRs):

••••••••• RRGRR003, Modifications to Improve Wind Forecasting

••••••••• RRGRR006, Clarification of Descriptions and Alignment with Resource Asset Registration Forms

••••••••• RRGRR007, Adding Solar Resource Registration Inputs

••••••••• RRGRR009, Adding Voltage Limit Sets, Relay Loadability, MLSE, and GMD Data

••••••••• RRGRR010, Seasonal Net Max Sustainable Rating Definitions

These RGRRs clarify the description for various data needed in the Resource Asset Registration Form (RARF); improve ERCOT wind forecasting during weather-related shutdown events; create new fields and categories to receive information pertinent to PhotoVoltaic Generation Resources (PVGRs), to assess vulnerability to Geomagnetic Disturbance (GMD) events, to monitor Resource Entity equipment, and to study the bulk ERCOT System performance under certain conditions; and add ambient temperature assumptions by ERCOT Weather Zone as a criterion for specifying the Seasonal Net Max Sustainable Rating definitions. PGRR046 aligns the Planning Guides with North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Reliability Standard TPL-007-1, Transmission System Planned Performance for Geomagnetic Disturbance Events, by specifying a process for developing GIC system models.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Pursuant to Resource Registration Glossary (RRG) Section 1.2.6, Resource Registration Glossary Revision Implementation, and Planning Guide Section 1.2.6, Planning Guide Revision Implementation, ERCOT is required to provide notice as soon as practicable, but no later than ten days prior to implementation.
