SHORT DESCRIPTION:  WebEx workshop to discuss the upgrade of the Client Digital Certificates Download Process

DAY AFFECTED:  January 17, 2018

LONG DESCRIPTION:  On Wednesday, January 17, 2018, ERCOT will host a WebEx workshop to discuss the upgrade of the Client Digital Certificates Download Process.

During ERCOT’s currently scheduled February 2018 release, there will be a change to ERCOT’s Market Participant Identity Management (MPIM) application that will affect the Digital Certificate download process.

Microsoft has phased out Active-X technology with the release of the new browser, Microsoft Edge. To meet future requirements, ERCOT will also shift away from using Active-X during the downloading of a Digital Certificate.  With the upcoming change, Digital Certificates will be downloaded as a file, instead of being installed directly into the browser.  Users will be required to secure the file when downloaded.  This new process will be the same for new Digital Certificates as well as Digital Certificate renewals.

The ERCOT Market Operations Test Environment (MOTE) was upgraded during ERCOT’s December release schedule for market testing of the new Digital Certificate download process.
