SHORT DESCRIPTION: Change in Indicative Real-Time Dispatch (RTD) calculation of Wind-powered Generation Resource High Sustained Limits (HSL)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED: February 1, 2018

LONG DESCRIPTION: On February 1, 2018, ERCOT will update the methodology used to calculate the High Sustained Limits (HSLs) for Wind-powered Generation Resources (WGRs) in indicative Real-Time Dispatch (RTD). RTD is also referred to as Look-Ahead SCED (LASCED). Currently a heuristic rule determines the WGR HSLs for future intervals in RTD. With this change, RTD will use SCED HSL values for all intervals. The change will be implemented between 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM on February 1, 2018. RTD calculates projected non-binding Base Points and Locational Marginal Prices (LMPs).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Settlements will not be affected by this change.

Details on the calculation of non-binding projection of the Base Points and LMPs can be found in Nodal Protocol Section 6.5.7.3 (11). Additional information on this improvement, as well as other enhancements, was also presented at the January 8, 2018 Qualified Scheduling Entity Managers Working Group (QMWG) meeting.
