SHORT DESCRIPTION:  New Market Training courses – July 2018

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

LONG DESCRIPTION:  ERCOT continues to build market education courses as part of its market training program.  It is our pleasure to announce the release of the following new courses:

ERCOT Foundations – This web-based only course is for anyone new to the field of interconnected utilities and Independent System Operators. This course briefly covers the fundamentals of electricity, the history of electric utilities, the progression of Texas to a competitive electric market and the basic makeup and functioning of ERCOT and the electric market.

Intermittent Renewable Resources 301 - This course highlights the unique characteristics of renewable resources and examines the special provisions built into the ERCOT market design to accommodate Intermittent Renewable Resources (IRRs). This course is also available as a web-based training.

Emergency Operations & Communications– This web-based only course covers the steps ERCOT takes in the event of emergency conditions, including Operating Condition Notices, Advisories, Watches, Emergency Notices and Energy Emergency Alerts.

And the following web-based training versions of existing courses were recently released:

Wholesale Markets 201 – This web-based course is a comprehensive study of ERCOT Wholesale Market Operations. This course explores the operational and financial requirements of the Day-Ahead Market, Reliability Unit Commitment and Real-Time Market processes.

Resource 301 – This web-based course expands upon Wholesale Markets 201 by exploring in greater detail the operation of Generation and Load Resources in the ERCOT Markets.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  To participate in ERCOT’s market courses, go to the ERCOT Training website at http://www.ercot.com/services/training/. Select the course you are interested in attending. On the “Schedule/Registration” tab, select the “Sign up” link to start registration or the “Launch” link to access a web-based course.
