SHORT DESCRIPTION:  Partial Implementation of NPRR825

INTENDED AUDIENCE:  ERCOT Market Participants

DAY AFFECTED:  October 1, 2018

LONG DESCRIPTION:  On October 1, 2018, ERCOT will partially implement Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 825, Require ERCOT to Issue a DC Tie Curtailment Notice Prior to Curtailing any DC Tie Load.  The language in Sections 2.1, Definitions, 4.4.4, DC Tie Schedules, 6.5.9.3.3 Watch, and 6.5.9.3.4, Emergency Notice, will be unboxed.  This will allow ERCOT to approve DC Tie schedules up to the available physical capacity of the DC Ties.

In the event that curtailment of a DC Tie Schedule is needed pursuant to Section 4.4.4, ERCOT will issue a DC Tie Curtailment Notice as detailed in Section 4, Emergency Operation of the DC Tie Operating Procedure.

In addition to continuing to post DC Tie limits as currently calculated pursuant to Section 3.10.7.7, DC Tie Limits, on October 1, 2018, ERCOT will also begin posting the available physical capacity of the DC Ties to provide additional transparency regarding the impact of expected system conditions on the ability to accommodate DC Tie imports and exports.  NPRR825 language in Section 3.10.7.7 will remain grey-boxed until system changes to permit hourly posting of DC Tie advisory limits can be implemented.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Pursuant to Nodal Protocol Section 21.6, Nodal Protocol Revision Implementation, ERCOT is required to provide notice as soon as practicable, but no later than ten days prior to implementation.
