PGDTF,
I have updated the draft based to address bus protection and let me know your comments, the added paragraph is:,
Bus differential relays protect the bus from internal faults based on Khirchoff’s current law that states the sum of the currents entering a given node must be
equal to the currents leaving that node. During GMD Event the currents including the harmonics into the bus are equal to the currents from the bus and will not affect the differential protection except where primary and secondary current transformers respond
differently to harmonics.

Aster,
I suppose I need to watch how I phrase it, when I say we, I meant we (PGDTF), not we (CPS Energy).
J
I was making an assumption that there are no effects from GMD because PGDTF has left it out of the guide, however, it could have just been an oversight. As a voting member of the ROS, I will have a hard time
endorsing this document if it doesn’t give some direction on high-bus diff.

Kenneth,
Yes you can add a section about high bus protection.
Thanks,
Aster

Aster,
Just a quick question of whether we can add a subsection in Section 5 to speak to high-bus protection, even if it’s just to say that high-bus diff relays won’t be effected by GMD.

PGDTF members,
Attached is the final draft of “Methodology for Assessing GMD Impacts on ERCOT Power Systems” that I will be emailing to ROS for approval in ROS August meeting . From our last meeting section 5.1 is updated and also some formatting. I have
not received any comment from SPWG System Protection Working Group. Please email me if you have any comment by July 31, 2019.
Thanks
