SHORT DESCRIPTION: Draft ERCOT report on estimating the Market Equilibrium and Economically Optimal Reserve Margins available for public review and comment

LONG DESCRIPTION: Section 2.3 of ERCOT's Study Process and Methodology Manual for evaluating the Market Equilibrium Reserve Margin (MERM) and Economically Optimal Reserve Margin (EORM) provides that ERCOT will conduct a study of the MERM and EORM every even-numbered year. Consistent with this established process, ERCOT has posted a draft report titled “Estimation of the Market Equilibrium and Economically Optimal Reserve Margins for the ERCOT Region for 2024.”  The report may be accessed from ERCOT’s Resource Adequacy website under the Planning Reserve Margin Analysis section at http://www.ercot.com/gridinfo/resource.

Stakeholders should submit any questions or comments to Julie Jin, Resource Adequacy Department, at [log in to unmask]" href="mailto:[log in to unmask]" target="_blank" rel="noopener">[log in to unmask], by close of business Monday, December 30, 2020. After the review period and consideration of any stakeholder questions or comments, ERCOT will provide a subsequent Notice indicating the availability of the final report and summarizing any significant changes to the draft report. Stakeholder questions and comments received by December 11 will also be discussed at the Supply Analysis Working Group (SAWG) meeting scheduled for December 18, 2020.
