NOTICE TYPE: R-A122220-01 Retail NAESB Data Exchanges
SHORT DESCRIPTION: NAESB - Deprecation of all TLS versions except TLS 1.2 in RMTE (Retail Market Test Environment) and Production Environment
INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Market Participants that exchange NAESB transmissions with ERCOT
DAYS AFFECTED: January 31, 2021 and April 4, 2021
LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT will no longer support TLS 1.0; and will support TLS 1.2 exclusively for NAESB transactions in RMTE beginning January 31, 2021. The expected Production Environment cutover will be April 4, 2021.
Flight 0221 testing will be conducted exclusively on TLS 1.2.
ACTION REQUIRED: All Existing and potential new Competitive Retailers (CRs), Transmission Distribution Service Providers (TDSPs) and Non Opt-In Entities (NOIEs) should confirm their usage of TLS 1.2 in NAESB transmissions sent and received with ERCOT.

The RMTE can be used to test NAESB connectivity exchanges on an ad hoc basis at any time as prescribed in the Retail Market Test Environment User Guide.
