SHORT DESCRIPTION: ERCOT 2021 Remote Black Start Training Early Registration opens March 9, 2021, for all operators who are responsible for the Day-Ahead and Real-Time operation of the ERCOT Transmission Grid
INTENDED AUDIENCE: All Transmission Operators (TOs), Qualified Scheduling Entity (QSE) operators identified in a Black Start restoration plan, Resource Entities that represent Black Start Resources, and other Entities who are notified by ERCOT that their participation is required. ERCOT is notifying the QSEs and Resource Entities that attendance at Black Start Training is limited to TOs, QSE operators identified in a Black Start restoration plan, Resource Entities that represent Black Start Resources, ERCOT staff, Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), Reliability Monitor, or other Entities deemed by ERCOT to have a legitimate reliability reason to attend. No QSEs or Resource Entities with only renewable resources are expected to attend as those parties are not identified in Black Start Restoration Plans.
DAYS AFFECTED: See table below for the training dates. Early registration for the annual Black Start Training will be available March 9, 2021 – April 12, 2021.
LONG DESCRIPTION: This year’s simulation will be performed remotely with all Market Participants logging into the Macomber Map through the ERCOT Gateway from their company locations. The prior weeks of Black Start Testing will have already set participants up as needed for the simulation training.
Early registration for the 2021 ERCOT Remote Black Start Training will open for all Entities per the intended audience on the date specified above. The annual Black Start Training will consist of advanced restoration principles via ERCOT LMS – course name: 2021 Black Start Training Prerequisite Course Modules (direct link found on the OTWG page under key documents: http://www.ercot.com/committee/otwg), and virtual Simulation regarding the Restoration of the ERCOT System. For completion of the module and two-day simulation session, up to sixteen (16) NERC- approved Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) may be awarded, twelve (12) of which will count toward the ERCOT/Simulation requirement.
*Entities not eligible to register for Black Start Training may still access the module listed above on the OTWG site, however continuing education credit will not be awarded for completion.

2021 ERCOT Remote Black Start Training Registration Information
Early registration for 2021 ERCOT Remote Black Start Training opens March 9, 2021. Space is limited to a fixed one hundred (100) participants per session. TOPs may register a crew per session and QSEs/GOPs may register a maximum of five (5) students per session.

Early registration begins on March 9, 2021 and ends on April 12, 2021. ALL payments received/post marked after April 12, 2021 will be charged the regular registration fee per participant. *NO EXCEPTIONS.* Accepted registrants will receive an email receipt of payment. All fees are non-refundable.

Participants that are NERC-certified are required to complete the specified LMS module prior to their registered simulation session, participate every hour of each simulation day, sign in each morning and turn in an assessment rubric at the end of each day (as directed by their onsite facilitator) to receive the corresponding NERC continuing education hours to their NERC transcript in SOCCED.
*Cancellation of registration for any reason will not be refunded.
