NOTICE TYPE: M-A032720-05 Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Proposal to Retire Wirtz Remedial Action Scheme (RAS)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: June 1, 2021

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT received a proposal from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) to retire the Wirtz Remedial Action Scheme (RAS). The Wirtz RAS is designed to prevent thermal overloads on the Wirtz to Flat Rock to Paleface 138 kV transmission line (T365) during periods of high output from Ferguson Power Station combined with high wind generation in the West and Panhandle regions. LCRA has indicated that the RAS is no longer needed with the outage and eventual upgrade to the RAS monitored line T365, Wirtz to Flat Rock to Paleface. The outage of line T365 is scheduled to begin in September 2021.

ACTION REQUIRED: Comments to this proposal are due to ERCOT by 5:00 pm on June 1, 2021, and should be submitted to [log in to unmask] using the attached comment form. Any questions or concerns submitted by the deadline will be addressed by ERCOT or LCRA.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:  Information regarding all RASs can be found on the secure Market Information System (MIS) site under the Transmission page of the Grid section.

Please review the ERCOT website for previous Market Notices related to this subject.
