SHORT DESCRIPTION: Retirement of  Wirtz Remedial Action Scheme (RAS)

INTENDED AUDIENCE: ERCOT Market Participants

DAYS AFFECTED: September 1, 2021

LONG DESCRIPTION: ERCOT has approved the proposal from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) to retire the Wirtz Remedial Action Scheme (RAS).  The Wirtz RAS is designed to prevent thermal overloads on the Wirtz to Flat Rock to Paleface 138 kV transmission line (T365) during periods of high output from Ferguson Power Station combined with high wind generation in the West and Panhandle regions. LCRA has indicated that the RAS is no longer needed during the outage and sequential upgrade to the RAS monitored line T365, Wirtz to Flat Rock to Paleface. The outage of line T365 is scheduled to begin in September 2021.
