NOTICE DATE: June 16, 2022

NOTICE TYPE: M-A061022-02 Operations

SHORT DESCRIPTION: Update - PMU, DME and DFR data hold for all Intermittent Renewable Resources (IRR) for the period of June 4, 2022 6:00 AM – June 4, 2022 6:00 PM

INTENDED AUDIENCE: All IRR Resource Entities

DAYS AFFECTED: June 4, 2022 6:00 AM - June 4, 2022 6:00 PM

LONG DESCRIPTION: At approximately 12:59:25 on 6/4/2022, a system fault occurred and was immediately followed by several generators tripping or reducing their output, totaling a generation loss of approximately 2,519 MW. This included 15 IRR generating units accounting for an initial approximation of 1,666MW of the generation loss.  Because of this, frequency dropped to 59.706 Hz and 1,227 MW of RRS from Generation Resources and 1,116 MW from Load Resources were deployed.

Upon further discussion with Market Participants, the retention period has been reduced from 12 hours to 1 hour around the event time.  For entities, that received a request from [log in to unmask], please respect the requested data time frame for that separate request when providing the requested data to ERCOT. Market Participants should ensure they acquire the appropriate time frame as some PMU data is based on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and not in Central Standard Time (CST).

ACTION REQUIRED: Each Resource Entity must, for each IRR, retain all available Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) data during the period of June 4, 2022 12:30 PM – June 4, 2022 1:30 PM CST for a minimum of three years, per Nodal Operating Guide 6.1.3.4(b). Each Resource Entity must, for each IRR, retain any event files generated by Disturbance Monitoring Equipment (DME), Digital Fault Recorders (DFR), Inverter Oscillography, or relays during this event. This will help aid ERCOT in its event analysis process and any model validation by the Market Participant and or ERCOT.
